GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The six-week Great Lakes Equestrian Festival ended on Sunday with the $100,000 Grand Prix of Traverse City.
The Grand Prix included 30 riders from eight different countries, including 17-year-old Caitlyn Connors, the youngest in the competition. Connors loved the GLEF in her first visit to northern Michigan.
“I’ve been here only two weeks, and I wish I was here the whole six weeks," she said. "I love it. Everything about this is just amazing. The course designers are absolutely outstanding, the employees here have been great. Everybody from the office to the ring. All the horses are top notch.”
The Grand Prix features some of the top riders from around the world. Many of the competitors also compete for their nations in the Olympics.
