Roberto was born in  1977 in Bogota, Colombia. He attended Gimnasio Moderno for high school and has a degree in economics from Universidad de Los Andes. Roberto started riding at a young age. He showed a passion for horses which rapidly developed to become a lifestyle. As a young rider, Roberto was the American FEI Children's silver medalist in 1991, the South American FEI Junior champion in 1992 and the Intercontinental Championship of Young Riders Gold medalist in 1993. 

In the year 2000 he moved to America where he began developing his business. Since then, Roberto has competed all over the world, jumping. Winning rounds in the Pan American Games in 2015, was double gold medalist in the central American games in 2016 and was the winner of the $1 million grand Prix in Ocala in 2016.
